Leaf
Terms of use
The agreement between you and Leaf.
Last updated 16 August 2026
Draft
These terms are a working draft and have not been reviewed by a lawyer. They describe how Leaf actually intends to operate, and we will not act inconsistently with them. If something here turns out to be unenforceable or unclear, the fault is ours and we will read it in your favour. Questions to privacy@learningwithleaf.com.
Leaf is in beta
Leaf is early software, run by a very small team. Features change, content is added and revised, and things occasionally break. We will describe significant changes clearly rather than quietly changing what you can expect from the service.
Your account
You need an account to save progress. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, use a real email address you can access, and don’t share an account with other people. Your review schedule is personal to you and sharing it mostly ruins it. You must be at least 13 years old to have an account.
Using Leaf sensibly
Please don’t:
- Break the law with it, or use it to harm or harass anyone.
- Attempt to break, overload or probe the service, or access other people’s accounts or data.
- Scrape or bulk-download the course content, or redistribute it as your own. Studying it, quoting it and taking notes from it are all fine.
- Resell access to Leaf, or use it to build a competing dataset.
What belongs to whom
The lessons, stories, exercises, dictionaries and recorded audio are Leaf’s, or are used under licence. Some material is licensed from others and carries its own attribution where it appears.
Videos in the Watch and Listening modules belong to the people who made them. Leaf streams them through YouTube’s official player and never re-hosts them; the creators keep every right they had.
What you create stays yours: your own decks, the words you save, and the answers you write. You give Leaf only the permission it needs to store that and show it back to you.
Availability
Leaf is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or that it will teach you a language. We back up the database and take reasonable care with your data, but we can’t promise it will never be lost, and you shouldn’t treat Leaf as the only copy of anything you would be upset to lose.
To the extent the law allows, Leaf Learning Technologies isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Leaf. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings; what that removes is described on the privacy page. We may suspend or close an account that is breaking these terms or harming the service, and other than in obvious cases we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
Changes
These terms will change as Leaf does. The date at the top shows the last revision, and we’ll flag significant changes in the app rather than updating this page quietly.
